The aim of this work has been to present before the readers a comprehensive overview of the insurance industry of Bangladesh. This is a collection of several subjects, although not coherent yet have been presented in symmetrical manner, beginning with the early history and ending with the latest development of the sector in world perspective. In abroad, there is lack of information about Bangladesh insurance industry. Even within Bangladesh, there is no consolidated information about the infrastructure of insurance industry, it’s development and the problems being faced. At the government level also the sector is not given proper attention compared to banking sector although there is no denying the fact that without proper development of the insurance sector, economy of the country cannot flourish. In this book, the author tried to bring various subjects under one roof so that one may get a comprehensive picture about this vital sector of our economy. This work will bring benefit to the readers in getting a glimpse of the past, present and future scenario of this industry.
